The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has launched an automated Instant Fines Traffic Management System which targets traffic violations occurring on Kenyan roads.
The newly implemented system sends instant SMS messages to drivers who break traffic rules by notifying them about their specific traffic violations. The authority states that the traffic enforcement technology will operate with enhanced transparency while its enforcement processes will achieve greater operational efficiency.
NTSA announced on Monday that the system functions as an automated system which requires no human operation to achieve its goals of promoting accountability while stopping enforcement disruptions.
Drivers who receive fines under the new directive must complete their payments through KCB Group branch locations within seven days of their ticket issuance.
The authority issued a warning that drivers who fail to pay their fines during the designated time frame will face additional financial penalties.
NTSA declared that drivers who have unpaid fines will encounter service restrictions which prevent them from using NTSA platforms until they handle their outstanding payments.
The government implemented the system to achieve its goal of improving road safety while increasing traffic law compliance throughout the nation.
