Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot Resigns; Governor Bii to Appoint New Deputy from Inner Circle
Barorot, a highly regarded engineer, had held the position of deputy governor for less than two years.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot addresses the media at the county headquarters, announcing his resignation from the position yesterday.
The position of Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor has been officially declared vacant following the resignation of John Barorot yesterday.
Governor Jonathan Bii confirmed the development, stating, “I will nominate Barorot’s replacement from within the inner circle of my administration.” Speaking to the media at the county headquarters in Eldoret, Bii explained that Barorot resigned to accept a position with an international ICT organization.
Barorot, an engineer by profession, had served as deputy governor for less than two years before stepping down to pursue new opportunities. “I am pleased to announce the exit of my deputy, who has secured another job as a chief executive officer with an international organization in the ICT sector,” Bii said, flanked by Barorot, county ministers, chief officers, and members of the county assembly.
The governor characterized his two-year working relationship with Barorot as “cordial,” assuring that there was “no cause for alarm.” Bii further stated, “I have been in discussion with my immediate former deputy governor over the last month regarding his plan to exit the regional government to pursue greener pastures outside the country.”
Barorot expressed gratitude for his time in office, saying, “I thank the governor for appointing me to this position, where I have worked with diligence and dedication over the past two years.” He addressed rumors of discord, stating, “There have been rumors and speculation that my resignation was due to differences with the governor. Let me set the record straight: I had a good working relationship with the governor throughout my tenure.”
Barorot’s resignation follows his conspicuous absence from several key county events, including the historic ceremony where Eldoret Municipality was conferred city status by President William Ruto last week. Governor Bii had previously reassured the public about Barorot’s absence at a county event, explaining that the deputy governor was on leave.
