Uasin Gishu County Executive Member Attacked by Political Goons After Deputy Governor’s Resignation
“These developments have raised serious concerns about the county’s ability to effectively deliver services to its residents amid the ongoing political turmoil”

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii shares light moments with Eng. John Barorot shortly after his resignation.
The Uasin Gishu County government has plunged into disarray following the sudden resignation of Deputy Governor Eng.John Barorot.
According to sources within the administration, a climate of fear has taken hold among County Executive Committee members, compounded by an incident where a cabinet member was reportedly confronted by a group of alleged “political goons” at the county headquarters, leading to the forced departure of a chief officer.
Barorot’s resignation, attributed to “constant frustrations” from the governor’s inner circle, has further destabilized the county’s leadership. The administration is facing mounting public criticism, particularly over the perceived substandard quality of statues erected in honor of local athletes before Eldoret’s elevation to city status. The deputy governor’s conspicuous absence from key county events, including the city conferment ceremony attended by President William Ruto, highlights the growing tensions within the county administration.
These developments have raised serious concerns about the county’s ability to effectively deliver services to its residents amid the ongoing political turmoil.
In a media address following the resignation of his deputy, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii revealed that the deputy governor left to join an international ICT firm. The deputy governor also expressed a preference for returning to the private sector, where he had worked for many years before transitioning into politics in 2022.
