Detectives have arrested three suspects in connection with the recent attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi at a Kisumu mall, as investigations into the incident gather momentum.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the trio was apprehended following investigations into the assault at Java House, West End Mall.

The suspects were identified as Carlos Owiti alias Kalonje, 24, from Nyalenda; Eric Otieno alias Dude, 39, from Manyatta; and Vincent Odhiambo alias Tinga, 27, also from Nyalenda. Police confirmed that the three are currently in custody and are being processed for arraignment in court.

“The suspects are in custody and are being processed for arraignment,” the DCI said, adding that efforts to track down additional individuals linked to the attack have been intensified.

The agency also commended members of the public for providing crucial information that aided the arrests and called for continued cooperation.

“We thank members of the public for volunteering information and urge continued support as investigations continue,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, security agencies in Kisumu County have ramped up operations targeting criminal gangs blamed for a recent surge in violence.

Kisumu County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo revealed that at least seven people have been killed in Nyando Sub-county following clashes between rival groups.

“We have launched investigations to establish the financiers of these organised groups. I want to assure members of the public that all those involved will have their day in court,” Leparmorijo said.

He noted that both county and sub-county security teams are working round the clock to restore order and ensure suspects are apprehended and charged.

The administrator further reassured business owners in Ahero—one of the areas hardest hit by the insecurity—that additional security measures have been put in place.

“Security has been beefed up and we will ensure that businesses and property are protected,” he said.

Authorities say the ongoing crackdown is part of broader efforts to curb organised crime and restore stability in the region.
