The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Machakos branch has established a partnership with Captain Irene Ndanu Soccer Summit to conduct a football tournament which will develop and support young players with talent throughout Machakos County.
FKF Machakos Chairman Ahmed Noor told reporters at Machakos that the federation signed an MOU with Irene Ndanu who will provide financial support to teams that will play in the upcoming county tournament.
Noor explained that FKF will handle the program and competition management together with talent discovery and club compliance enforcement for federation rules. The sponsor will provide tournament support through their two roles which include delivering facilitation services and soccer kits to support teams in their professional development and competitive readiness.
“Youth development through tournament sponsorship in Machakos is our mission which we achieve through our partnership with Captain Ndanu Soccer Summit. We have established an MOU with multiple agreements which will help us gain ongoing league support while attracting additional sponsors who want to back our upcoming league matches,” Noor said.
Machakos County has approximately 800 football teams according to him but only 250 teams have completed registration with the FKF system. The teams spread through nine sub-counties which FKF and Captain Ndanu will use as their base for talent scouting while they provide training programs for referees and coaches to elevate regional athletic standards.
Captain Ndanu explained that the program creates chances for young people to stay active in football while keeping them away from harmful activities. After supporting charitable work in Machakos she decided to use soccer to help youth because she saw the need for more support to develop local players who have unfulfilled potential.
The tournament will feature both men’s and women’s teams, progressing from sub-county to county level. The county championship will award the winning team Sh1 million while the second place team will receive Sh500,000 and the third place team will earn Sh250,000 while the fourth place team will get Sh100,000.
Champions at the sub-county level will receive Sh50,000 while the second-place team will earn Sh25,000 and the third-place team will get Sh15,000. Captain Ndanu announced that the competition will take place every year to help players maintain their training schedule while advancing their abilities and building their self-assurance.
“I appreciate FKF for agreeing to partner with us for the Soccer Summit. We will start the tournament this month to identify and assist talented players while creating support systems for their development,” she said.
