The AMPATH team conducted the program launch at Afya House in Nairobi to present their three-year project to Principal Secretary Ouma Oluga who is responsible for Medical Services. The team explained that the initiative seeks to lessen the burden of breast cancer in Kenya by strengthening interventions throughout the entire continuum of care.

The program will increase early detection rates while developing systems that provide customized medical treatment to patients in need.

The initiative improves patient access to immediate diagnosis and treatment through its structured patient navigation systems and its coordinated referral systems. The model will also optimise care delivery platforms and generate implementation evidence to guide national health policies and treatment guidelines.

The program aims to reduce advanced breast cancer diagnosis while increasing breast cancer treatment retention and improving patient outcomes throughout the United States. Dr. Oluga proposed that healthcare must be delivered through a community-based approach which integrates all health services to honor patient needs. Here he explained how community-level digital solutions need to be integrated into health services to improve patient tracking and care delivery.

He explained how digital solutions help health workers discover and deal with multiple challenges including patient distance from medical facilities and their financial difficulties. He asked people to use advocacy and awareness activities to enable them to take part in the healthcare system.
