Police in Baringo Launch Manhunt for Father Who Allegedly Impregnated His Daughter in Kitibei

Police in Baringo North are hunting for a middle-aged man who allegedly defiled and impregnated his own daughter in Kitibei village, Baringo County, in a shocking case of incest that has sparked outrage among residents.
According to Citizen TV report, the victim, a young girl who had just completed her secondary school education, was allegedly defiled by her biological father over a period of time, leading to a pregnancy. She has since given birth, and is now struggling to take care of the newborn baby.
The incident, which occurred in Kitibei, has left the community in shock, with residents condemning the act as a grave violation of parental trust and child rights.
Speaking on the matter, lawyer Lucilla Kandie condemned the rising cases of child abuse and incest in the region, noting that homes which should be the safest places for girls are no longer safe.
“We condemn issues of child abuse, we condemn issues of incest, we condemn fathers having to sleep with their daughters and impregnating them. Home is the safest place for our girls and at this point in time, as we speak, home is no longer safe for our girls,” Kandie said.
She called on security agencies in Baringo North to urgently arrest the suspect and ensure he faces the full force of the law, adding that such acts cannot be tolerated in society.
“We condemn that act and I want to call upon the security in Baringo North to protect our girls and also this guy to be arrested as soon as possible because we cannot accept things of that kind in our society,” she added.
Residents led by Sylvia Mutai, a resident of Kitibei, also expressed anger and demanded justice for the minor, saying the case has traumatized the girl and cut short her dreams of pursuing further education.
Mutai said the girl had completed her secondary school studies with hopes of joining college, but her future is now uncertain as she is forced into early motherhood under painful circumstances.
The family is reportedly living in fear after the suspect went into hiding immediately after the matter was reported to local authorities and to the police.
Police have confirmed that investigations are underway and a manhunt has been launched for the suspect, who is currently on the run. Officers have urged members of the public with information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
The case adds to a worrying trend of defilement and incest cases reported in Baringo County in recent months, prompting calls for enhanced child protection mechanisms, community sensitization and stricter enforcement of the Sexual Offences Act.
Child rights activists are now calling for psycho-social support for the victim and her child, as well as legal aid to ensure justice is served.
