Ministry of Health Announces Scholarships for Foreign Students in Bangladesh Medical and Dental Colleges

The Government of Bangladesh has reserved a total of 221 seats for foreign students, out of which 117 seats are allocated to students from SAARC countries.

The Ministry of Health has issued a public notice inviting applications for scholarships in medical and dental programs in Bangladesh for the academic year 2024-2025.

These scholarships, offered under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Bangladesh, are part of a collaborative effort to enhance international academic and professional development opportunities.

The Government of Bangladesh has reserved a total of 221 seats for foreign students, out of which 117 seats are allocated to students from SAARC countries.

An additional 99 seats are designated for students from non-SAARC countries, with five seats reserved under the Bangladesh Government’s special scholarship program.

In addition to public institutions, foreign students can also apply for admission to private medical and dental colleges in Bangladesh.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has provided detailed criteria and procedures for application, equivalence, and eligibility, as outlined in Annexures A, B, C, and D of the notice.

Interested candidates applying to government institutions must submit their application forms, along with all academic records and relevant documents, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs by January 15, 2025.

This deadline ensures timely processing and transmission of applications to Bangladesh.

For non-government medical and dental colleges, applicants are required to submit their online applications through the official Bangladesh portal by March 15, 2025.

The online application platform can be accessed at http://foreignstudents.dgme.gov.bd/login, and further details, including the list of available institutions, are provided on the Ministry of Health’s website.

Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Harry K. Kimtai, emphasized the importance of this program in fostering international collaboration and providing Kenyan students with opportunities to pursue quality education in medical and dental fields.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the capacity of Kenya’s healthcare system by nurturing highly skilled professionals.
