Maina Njenga Calls for Unity and Grassroots Development in Mt. Kenya Region

Former senatorial candidate Maina Njenga has called on residents of the Mt. Kenya region to support elected leaders, including President William Ruto, to ensure development is realized at the grassroots level.
Speaking during a prayer meeting at Kabiru-ini Showground in Nyeri, Njenga dismissed claims that the region had abandoned the Kenya Kwanza administration following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He asserted that the region remains united and aligned with the government, adding that “only one person has left.”
“In what we call the Kabiru-ini Declaration, youths from this region will work with the government of the day. We must support our leaders and ensure our development goals are achieved. At the same time, we will help MPs and other elected leaders return to the ground and work for the community to safeguard our Constituency Development Funds (CDF),” Njenga stated.
Njenga used the analogy of a Mugumo tree, explaining, “If one branch has fallen, it does not mean the entire tree is down.”
Accompanied by several religious leaders, Njenga accused Gachagua of failing to address key issues such as the revival of the coffee and tea industries. He expressed optimism that recent political unity between President Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Raila Odinga would benefit the region’s agricultural sector.
“Recently, you saw the President visit Uhuru at Gatundu, and several Cabinet Secretaries were named. We stand behind this new unity. With CS Kagwe at the helm, we are confident that the coffee and tea industries will be revived,” Njenga said.
Youth leaders who attended the prayer meeting criticized Gachagua, accusing him of political isolation. They noted that he lost their support after canceling a similar prayer meeting last year.
The meeting concluded with calls for collaboration among leaders and residents to foster unity and prioritize development for the Mt. Kenya region.
