The 97th Cultural Festival, held at Home Craft, brought together over 50 diverse communities from across the county in a vibrant celebration of heritage and unity. The event, graced by His Excellency Governor Hon. Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, was a testament to the county’s commitment to preserving and promoting its cultural richness.

In his address, Governor Bii emphasized the critical role of cultural diversity in fostering unity and driving progress. “This festival is a celebration of the diversity that makes our county unique. It is also a powerful reminder of the strength we draw from our shared identity and values,” he remarked.

The governor highlighted the county’s reputation for “unity in diversity,” commending the harmonious coexistence of different communities. “Our ability to live together peacefully, despite our differences, is one of our greatest strengths. Peace and stability are foundational pillars of development, and our cultural unity plays a significant role in sustaining these pillars,” he said.

The festival’s theme, “Our Culture, Our Wealth,” resonated deeply with participants and attendees. Governor Bii underscored the economic potential of cultural heritage, particularly through cultural tourism, which he noted attracts visitors from around the world and generates revenue for local communities. “Culture is not just an essential part of who we are; it is also a valuable resource that drives economic prosperity,” he stated.

Acknowledging the county’s rapid urbanization and growth, Governor Bii stressed the importance of preserving cultural values amidst modernization. He called for greater intercommunity collaboration to strengthen social cohesion and enrich shared traditions.

The county government, he assured, remains committed to supporting cultural development. “We have initiated programs to empower cultural groups, host workshops, and provide platforms for young people to showcase their talents. Plans are also underway to establish cultural hubs and centers to celebrate and preserve our traditions for generations to come,” Governor Bii announced.

The governor lauded the organizers, communities, and participants for their dedication and hard work in making the event a success. “Your efforts reflect our collective commitment to respect, unity, and collaboration. Together, we ensure that our culture continues to be the cornerstone of our prosperity,” he concluded.

The festival showcased traditional dances, music, art, and cuisines, drawing crowds from across the county and beyond. As the day unfolded, it became evident that cultural heritage remains a unifying force and a valuable asset in shaping the county’s future.
