Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has downplayed claims that President William Ruto will rig the upcoming General Election. The assertions were described as false and political by Ruku.
During a Special Programmes outreach in Taita Taveta County, Ruku urged political leaders to desist from lying. Rather, he appealed to them to accept development milestones that have been achieved by the Kenya Kwanza government.
“President Ruto will not need to rig elections,” Ruku said. “He will win because of his performance record in delivery. These are not promises—projects are real and already transforming lives in less than two years.”
Ruku also highlighted government investment in Taita Taveta County. He further stated that over Ksh 3 billion has been invested in infrastructure, education, housing, energy, and modern market projects.
He mentioned the ongoing construction of the 70-kilometre Elasit–Njukini–Taveta Road and the 58-kilometre Mtomwagodi–Bare–Idage–Bura Road. According to him, the roads will improve transport links and improve market access in the region.
Ksh 2 billion has been allocated to the Affordable Housing Programme. Ruku added that it will bridge the housing deficit while creating job opportunities for the youth.
In schools, Ksh 750 million has been funded to Taita Taveta University to build 1,700 hostel rooms. This will assist in easing accommodation issues among the students. 58 new classrooms have also been constructed in 68 Mwatate schools to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
In electricity, the government has invested Ksh 200 million in 15 new rural electrification projects. Another Ksh 60 million will be spent on another 10 projects under Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).
Ruku also mentioned Matunge Market in Mwatate, which is 90% complete. He said that market modernization was a national plan to promote trade and benefit small businesses.
The Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed that the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) is already touching lives.
“The Kenya Kwanza government is about delivering development that can be seen and felt. That will earn victory for President Ruto—not propaganda or misinformation,” Ruku added.
