A group of influential leaders from Western Kenya has pledged full support for President William Ruto as the country gears up for the 2027 elections.

The leaders, led by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, have lauded the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development projects in the region, signaling a shift in political allegiances.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Sipande Primary School in Lugari Constituency, Governor Barasa assured President Ruto of their backing, highlighting the tangible progress witnessed under his leadership.

“President William Ruto, we are going to support you,” he declared, underscoring the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises.

MP Nabwera echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the region has seen notable improvements in infrastructure and economic development.

He pointed to the construction of key roads and the affordable housing initiative as evidence of the administration’s dedication to transforming Western Kenya.

“In this term, we have seen real development from the national government,” said Lukuyani MP Innocent Mugabe. “The completion of the Soy-Turbo road, ongoing works on the Turbo-Sigendu road, and affordable housing projects in Lukuyani are proof that President Ruto is committed to our region’s growth.”

Also present at the event was Farouk Kibet, a close ally of President Ruto, who urged residents to align themselves with the government’s development agenda.

He called on Western Kenya to rally behind the president to ensure continued progress in the region.

However, in response to President Ruto’s growing influence, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has scheduled a major convention in Western Kenya on February 28. The meeting is aimed at consolidating the party’s support base and countering the government’s inroads in the region.

The increasing support for President Ruto in Western Kenya signals a shifting political landscape as the 2027 elections draw closer. With both the ruling party and the opposition intensifying their campaigns, the region is emerging as a key battleground that could influence the country’s political direction.

As the race for 2027 gains momentum, the competition between Kenya Kwanza and ODM in Western Kenya is set to escalate, making the region a focal point in the upcoming elections.
