The vibrant atmosphere of the 45th Logooli Cultural Festival filled the Mbale Cultural Grounds this past weekend, drawing together thousands of energetic residents and visitors to celebrate a significant aspect of Kenya’s cultural diversity.

With the theme “Komenya M’bugwi,” which translates to “living in new lands acquired beyond ancestral habitation,” this year’s festival showcased the richness of heritage, identity, and a strong community spirit.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadigraced the event, sharing his insights with the enthusiastic crowd, especially the youth.

He urged the younger generation to embrace their cultural roots, asserting that such connection not only fosters unity but also cultivates a unique identity that binds communities together.

“Our culture is our strength,” Mudavadi declared, encouraging young people to participate actively in cultural activities to ensure the preservation and evolution of the Mulogooli culture.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary also highlighted the critical role of community leaders in safeguarding cultural heritage.

He called for their support in creating inclusive platforms that encourage the youth to participate actively in cultural planning and activities.

“It’s vital that we bridge the gap between generations, ensuring the voices of our youth are heard in discussions about our cultural identity,” Mudavadi stated.

His words resonated with the crowd, emphasizing a collective commitment to honor and promote the Mulogooli way of life.

The festival featured a myriad of cultural activities, including traditional dances, crafts, and culinary displays, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the rich traditions of the Logooli people.

Mudavadi took the opportunity to commend the Vihiga Cultural Society, which played a pivotal role in organizing this electrifying event.

“Kudos to your outstanding efforts in bringing our community together,” he praised.

The festival attracted an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including Vihiga Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo, Deputy Governor Wilberforce Kitiezo, former Governors Wycliffe Wangamati and Moses Akaranga, as well as King Nabongo Mumia II.

Senators, Members of Parliament, and various MCAs added to the day’s significance, highlighting the festival’s importance as a unifying event for the region.

As the festival concluded, its success was evident in the smiles and laughter shared among the attendees, ensuring that the spirit of the Logooli culture continues to thrive in the hearts of both the young and old alike.
