UDA Nominated Mp vows the breakaway IEBC commissioners must vacate office
By James Gitaka
Nominated member of the parliament on a UDA party ticket Joseph Wainaina, has hit out at the opposition leader Raila Odinga for planning to hold demonstrations across the Country.
Speaking to the press Wainana termed the move as uncalled for and ill-intended and that the government should not allow demonstrations as planned out by the opposition leader .
“As leaders from the Rift valley we will not allow demonstrations to take place in this country, it’s time to fix problems facing Kenyans and not demonstrations, our country has challenges such as famines, close to 4 million Kenyans are in need of food , these and many more pressing challenges need solutions from the government and therefore there is no room for demonstrations,” said the nominated member of parliament.
This comes after Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga said they will hold countrywide rallies to seek opinions from the public on the petition to remove four IEBC commissioners.
The rallies are intended to be held in Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, and Kakamega counties respectively to pressurize the government against what is termed as a move to remove the four commissioners of the Independent electoral and Boundaries Commission over their stand in the 2022 general Elections .
“If the opposition leader wants to participate in the demonstrations he should bring his children, and his sister to be at the forefront during the demonstration but not mislead the common mwananchi into demonstrations,we will not allow it,” said President William Ruto’s close ally.
The IEBC commissioners, dubbed the Cherera Four, are Vice-chairperson Juliana Cherera, Francis Mathenge, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyang’aya
Those IEBC Commissioners Could have burnt the Country since they did not follow the law instead they had taken sides. We will not allow the opposition to hold the planned demonstrations to pressurize parliament not carry out its mandate, the four commissioners will be removed
However the Opposition leader Raila Odinga Tuesday announced the postponement of the planned demos from Wednesday upto 7th of December to provide ample time for candidates sitting for the National examinations.
