Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Jonathan Chelilim Bii’s call on Kenyans for relief food appeal through the Uasin Gishu Save a Life Initiative, has met a positive response from well-wishers and business communities across the county.

 

This was witnessed on Tuesday when the management team of the Yako supermarket chain led by the CEO Malkiat Singh and the Branch Manager Francis Mberia, donated a consignment of assorted foodstuffs to the tune of Kshs 350,000 at the National Cereals and Produce Board town store.

 

“We  have  responded to the call by  our  governor  to contribute towards saving lives to our  brothers  and sisters who are  in dire  need of  food within our region , we implore  upon the other  business people and  Kenyans of  good will to continue  supporting this  initiative, “Said Malikiat .

 

While receiving the donation, Governor’s Advisor on Economic Affairs, Mr. Philip Meli, appreciated the kind gesture displayed and appealed for more assistance so that lives can be saved in the drought-ravaged counties across the country.

 

 

The Uasin Gishu branch chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Sheikh Abubakar Bini, who also gave his donation, pledged to continue to rally the appeal for more foodstuffs up to the realization of the food security in the country.

 

“We will continue to appeal to our congrats to donate in Kind or  cash to the  county government through the save  a life initiative in order to support who continue to face  food insecurity in at least 29 counties across the Country, we commend the Uasin Gishu Governor and  his  administration  for launching this noble initiative, “Said Sheikh Bini.
