The Uasin Gishu County Government has called on Kenyans to disregard inflammatory statements made by certain leaders, which they believe are obstructing the country’s progress.

Benjamin Natui, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ng’enyilel Ward, has strongly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, dismissing his remarks as unhelpful and misleading.

Natui described Gachagua as a hypocrite, pointing out that the former Deputy President had supported government projects during his tenure but now criticized the same initiatives.

The criticism stems from Gachagua’s recent accusations against President William Ruto, particularly his claims regarding widespread corruption within the administration.

Gachagua recently challenged Ruto’s ability to address corruption, questioning his moral authority to speak on the issue.

“Ruto, my friend, do you have the moral authority to talk about corruption?” Gachagua said, adding, “There was an opinion poll recently about the most corrupt person in the world, and we are unhappy that instead of giving you number one, they gave you number two.”

Natui, however, urged Kenyans to be vigilant and not fall victim to divisive rhetoric. He warned that some leaders, like Gachagua, are more focused on sowing discord than contributing to the nation’s development.

He advised Gachagua that if he is serious about pursuing the presidency, he should wait until the 2027 elections, as the current focus should be on uniting the country and advancing its economic agenda.

In his comments, Natui stressed the importance of national unity and cooperation, asserting that the government’s current priority is to work towards the betterment of all Kenyans, rather than engaging in political quarrels.
