Political leaders from Uasin Gishu County have expressed strong criticism of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of undermining government projects.

Through the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ng’enyilel, Benjamin Natui, Gachagua was condemned for using various media platforms to spread what the leaders described as propaganda against the government’s initiatives.

Natui expressed his disappointment with Gachagua’s statements, particularly his recent criticisms of President William Ruto’s administration.

“We are amazed by the statements of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. When he was in office, there were things happening that he now continues to criticize. I cannot agree with him, as all he is doing is wasting time and offering no solutions for Kenyans. If he was sincere, he would have raised these concerns while in office,” Natui said.

The MCA also expressed support for President Ruto’s decision to appoint new officials to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which will play a crucial role in overseeing the 2027 general elections.

Natui thanked the newly appointed officers, wishing them success in their tasks as they prepare to manage the upcoming elections.

Additionally, the court cleared the selection panel for the IEBC Commissioners on Friday, January 26, 2025, allowing the panel’s list to be submitted to President Ruto for formal appointment.

The approval marks a significant step toward ensuring the preparedness of the electoral body as the country approaches the 2027 elections.

Natui urged Kenyans to be cautious of leaders who, according to him, seek to incite division and hinder the country’s progress. He emphasized the need for unity as the government continues its development agenda.
