Three people lost their lives Tuesday afternoon after being involved in a road accident at Maili-Saba area along Kitale-Eldoret highway.
According to the area Nyumba Kumi Chairman John Kidula, the victims were travelling on a motorcycle when they were unfortunately hit by a high-speeding truck.
Kidula mentioned that a student of St. Anthony Boys School Kitale, who was heading to school, was among the causalities.
“We will not condone the horrendous accidents that continue to claim the lives of our people ,I express my sympathy to the families of the victims,” Kidula said, adding that the accident would have been prevented if the road had bumps to control the speed of the vehicles.
He then pleaded with the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Public works to ensure there are speed bumps on the said toad to avoid future accidents.
“The Cabinet Secretary for roads, Kipchumba Murkomen is very conversant with the situation of this road. We request that this road be expanded and re-worked on to enhance safety,” he appealed.
