Ruto, Kindiki and Kalonzo Step Up Regional Tours

President William Ruto will continue his four-day tour of the South Rift region on Thursday, with a series of public engagements and development-focused activities planned in Kericho and Bomet counties.
The President is expected to begin the day’s programme in Kokwet, Kipkelion West, before travelling to Kapsoit in Ainamoi for another public engagement with residents.
Ruto will also make a stop at Torit Junction before proceeding to Boito in Konoin, Bomet County, where he is expected to meet residents and assess the progress of development projects.
The engagements are part of the President’s wider tour of the South Rift, which has seen him visit different parts of Kericho and Bomet as his administration continues to showcase government programmes and projects.
During the tour, Ruto has used public gatherings to interact directly with residents, listen to local concerns and highlight projects being implemented by the national government.
The visits also provide an opportunity for government officials and local leaders to update residents on the progress of infrastructure and other development initiatives in the region.
Ruto’s continued presence in the South Rift comes at a time when political leaders are increasingly stepping up grassroots engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election. However, the administration has largely framed the President’s current tour around development and the delivery of public services.
Meanwhile, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is scheduled to undertake a series of public engagements and inspect development projects during his tour of Meru County.
Kindiki is expected to begin his programme at 10am with a public meeting in Kanyakine, Imenti South Constituency.
The Deputy President will subsequently inspect selected projects in the county before holding another public meeting in Kibuline, Tigania West Constituency, in the afternoon.
His visit is expected to focus on the implementation of government programmes and the delivery of public services to residents.
Kindiki has in recent months taken part in various government-led engagements across the country, with public meetings providing an avenue for the administration to explain its development agenda and receive feedback from communities.
Elsewhere, Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka is set to begin a two-day meet-the-people tour of Garissa and Tana River counties as he expands his grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo is expected to leave for the two counties on Thursday, with his engagements continuing through the weekend.
The former Vice President is scheduled to hold meetings with residents as he seeks to strengthen Wiper’s presence in the region and popularise his political message.
A key theme of the tour will be Kalonzo’s “Ukombozi wa Kenya” message, which he is expected to take to residents during his interactions.
The separate tours by Ruto, Kindiki and Kalonzo highlight the increasing importance of grassroots political engagement as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections.
While the President and his deputy are expected to use their engagements to promote the government’s development record, Kalonzo’s tour is focused on building political support and expanding his party’s reach.
The visits are likely to attract attention in the respective regions as leaders seek to deepen their relationships with voters and shape the political conversation ahead of the next General Election.
