President William Ruto reaffirmed the critical role of the private sector in driving Kenya’s economic development during the 20th anniversary celebration of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

In his keynote address, President Ruto emphasized that a robust and dynamic private sector is the cornerstone of the country’s economic growth and long-term prosperity.

He noted that the government is committed to working closely with the business community to identify new opportunities for collaboration, improve the regulatory environment, and implement reforms that will propel Kenya’s transformation agenda.

“The private sector plays an integral role in our economy, not just as a driver of growth but also as a partner in the delivery of key services and infrastructure. The government is determined to create an enabling environment that supports business growth and fosters innovation,” President Ruto stated.

The anniversary event, which brought together top business leaders, government officials, and development partners, served as a platform to reflect on KEPSA’s achievements over the past two decades.

Founded in 2004, KEPSA has grown into one of Kenya’s most influential business networks, advocating for policies and reforms that promote the interests of the private sector while contributing to national development.

In his speech, the President highlighted the government’s focus on improving the ease of doing business, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and enhancing public-private partnerships.

He further outlined key initiatives aimed at stimulating investment, such as ongoing infrastructural projects, tax reforms, and policies designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are vital to the country’s economy.

“We recognize that the private sector is the engine of growth, and by providing the right support, we can unlock even greater potential for innovation, job creation, and economic diversification,” President Ruto added.

During the event, KEPSA’s CEO, Carole Kariuki, acknowledged the partnership between the government and the private sector in advancing Kenya’s development goals.

She noted that the collaboration had resulted in significant strides in areas such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

As Kenya celebrates the achievements of KEPSA over the last 20 years, President Ruto reiterated his commitment to strengthening the partnership with the private sector, emphasizing that sustainable growth and economic transformation will require continued collaboration and innovation from all sectors of society.

The event concluded with calls for the continued empowerment of Kenya’s business community to foster an inclusive and resilient economy capable of meeting the challenges of the future.
