The Ministry of Health has announced the ongoing distribution of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccines across the country to ensure that all children receive necessary immunization against tuberculosis (TB).
This initiative aims to address any gaps in vaccination coverage and encourage caregivers to take their children to health facilities for timely immunization.
Nyeri County Receives 72,000 Doses
In Nyeri County, a total of 72,000 doses of the BCG vaccine are currently being distributed. Health officials are working diligently to ensure that all designated health facilities receive adequate stock.
This measure seeks to protect newborns and young children from TB, a highly infectious disease that remains a public health concern.
Caregivers in Nyeri are encouraged to visit hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare centers to ensure their children receive the vaccine and catch up on any missed doses.
Machakos County Allocated 44,000 Doses
Machakos County has also received a substantial allocation of 44,000 doses of the BCG vaccine. The distribution process is ongoing across the county’s nine sub-counties to ensure comprehensive vaccine coverage.
At Machakos Level 5 Hospital, children have already begun receiving their immunization, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to child health and disease prevention.
Parents and guardians are urged to take advantage of this availability and visit the nearest health facility for their child’s vaccination.
Call for Timely Vaccination
The Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance of timely vaccination in safeguarding children from preventable diseases. With BCG vaccine stocks now replenished in different parts of the country, caregivers are advised not to delay their children’s immunization.
Health officials continue to assure the public that the vaccine is safe and effective in protecting against severe forms of tuberculosis, particularly in infants.
In addition to Nyeri and Machakos counties, other regions across the country are also receiving their respective allocations of BCG vaccines. The government remains committed to achieving universal immunization coverage to combat TB and other preventable diseases.
A Collective Responsibility
The Ministry urges communities to play an active role in promoting child health by spreading awareness about the availability of the BCG vaccine. Ensuring that every child is immunized is a shared responsibility between the government, healthcare providers, and caregivers.
As the distribution progresses, the Ministry continues to monitor the supply chain to prevent shortages and ensure all eligible children receive the necessary protection.
Caregivers are encouraged to visit their nearest health facilities without delay to safeguard their children’s health and well-being.
