Lari Boys High School has been closed indefinitely after a fire destroyed key facilities on Saturday night in an incident linked to student unrest.
The inferno razed down the administration block and several classrooms, leaving only the dormitories untouched.
Reports indicate that the unrest may have been triggered after students were reportedly denied access to musical instruments.
Efforts by local residents to help extinguish the fire and restore calm were met with hostility, as they were pelted with stones by a section of the students.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
However, the school is yet to issue an official statement on the matter, leaving speculations on how the ordeal started and whether the fire was arson or an accident.
As of the time of the publication of this article, no casualties had been reported and the extent of the damage is also yet to be confirmed.
The fire comes just a week after a similar fire brought down a dormitory at Embakasi Girls Secondary School in Nairobi.
Distraught parents began streaming into the institution early Sunday morning to pick up their children.
