Gor Mahia Football Club has received a staggering 148 applications for its vacant head coach position, with former tactician Zdravko Logarusic among those eyeing a return to the club.

The 20-time Kenyan Premier League champions are in the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Irishman Johnathan McKinstry, who left the club after guiding K’Ogalo to back-to-back league titles.

In a statement released by the club, Gor Mahia confirmed the high number of applicants and noted that the selection process is ongoing.

“We have received 148 applications from across the world for the head coach position, including from familiar faces such as Zdravko Logarusic. The recruitment committee is reviewing the applications and will present a shortlist soon,” the club said.

Logarusic, who coached Gor Mahia between 2012 and 2013, left a lasting impression during his first stint, leading the team to a domestic cup victory and narrowly missing out on the league title.

He later went on to coach the Kenyan national team, the Sudanese national team, and clubs across Africa.

The club’s top brass has reiterated its commitment to appointing a coach who understands Gor Mahia’s ambitions, culture, and the demands of both domestic and continental competitions.

Fans have expressed mixed reactions to the possible return of Logarusic, with some welcoming the experience he brings while others push for fresh ideas and new leadership.

The final decision on the new head coach is expected in the coming weeks as the club gears up for the CAF Champions League and the new FKF Premier League season.
