Kenya, U.S. Strengthen Health Partnership in Push for Better Service Delivery

The talks focused on disease prevention, health systems strengthening, transparency, and strategic investments aimed at improving healthcare delivery and long-term health outcomes.

Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga on Tuesday hosted members of the United States House Foreign Affairs Committee at Afya House for consultations aimed at advancing the implementation of the Kenya–United States Health Cooperation Framework signed in December 2025.

The meeting focused on deepening bilateral collaboration in key healthcare areas, including disease prevention and response, strengthening health systems, and addressing other shared priorities outlined in the agreement.

Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Oluga emphasized the need for sustained cooperation between the two countries to enhance healthcare delivery and improve long-term health outcomes for Kenyans.

“The partnership between Kenya and the United States remains critical in strengthening our health systems and ensuring better service delivery for citizens,” he said.

The discussions also underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and strategic healthcare investments in supporting sustainable improvements within the sector.

The U.S. delegation was led by Mr. Brandon Ramsay, a Professional Staff Member of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee. Other members included Ms. Allison Cantrell, Dr. Sally Okutoyi from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Foreign Assistance, and Ms. Leah Hasselback from the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi.

Senior technical officials from the Ministry of Health also attended the consultative meeting.
