Kenya Bids Farewell to Japan’s Ambassador
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the bonds between Kenya and Japan continue to grow in the years to come.

Kenya has bid farewell to Ambassador Okaniwa Ken, the outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Kenya, as he concludes his distinguished tenure.
In a formal send-off, Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs commended Ambassador Okaniwa for his invaluable role in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries during his tenure.
During his term, Ambassador Okaniwa made significant contributions to strengthening the long-standing partnership between Kenya and Japan, marked by notable high-level engagements and increased cooperation in various sectors.
The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs highlighted the ambassador’s commitment to fostering closer ties, particularly in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
In a statement,Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi expressed its deep appreciation for Japan’s continued support, noting the positive impact of Japan’s involvement in Kenya’s economic and social development.
Japan has been a key development partner in various initiatives, including infrastructure projects, healthcare, education, and capacity-building efforts across Kenya.
“We thank Ambassador Okaniwa for his dedicated efforts, which have greatly advanced our bilateral relationship. His work has laid a strong foundation for future cooperation between Kenya and Japan,” the Ministry stated.
As Ambassador Okaniwa prepares to return to Japan, Kenya extended its warm welcome to his successor, pledging unwavering support from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The Ministry assured the incoming ambassador of its commitment to further advancing the Kenya-Japan relationship, building on the solid foundation laid by Ambassador Okaniwa.
The relationship between Kenya and Japan has continued to thrive over the years, with Japan playing a vital role in Kenya’s infrastructure development through projects like the construction of roads, bridges, and water supply systems.
