With the resumption of the 2025/26 Kenya Cup season after the HSBC 7s division 2 break, dominant victories, surprise upsets, and several walkovers are shaping the weekend’s narrative across the top tier and lower divisions.
KCB Rugby produced the standout performance, overwhelming MMUST 61–15 at the Den to tighten their grip near the top of the table. The biggest shock of the round unfolded in Nairobi, where Daystar Falcons stunned Kenya Harlequin 30–23, completing one of their most memorable wins of the season.
Menengai Oilers proved ruthless against Nondescripts with a 41–9 victory, while defending champions Kabras Sugar maintained their unbeaten run by beating KU BlakBlad 26–16 on the road.
Nakuru RFC treated their home fans to a 46–30 triumph against Impala in a free-scoring clash, as Strathmore Leos edged Kisumu RFC 43–39 in what was arguably the most dramatic encounter of the weekend.
In the ESS leagues, KCB II ran riot with a 103–7 demolition of Impala II, while Menengai Oilers II crushed Kisumu II 88–6 in the Western Conference. A number of fixtures were decided by walkovers, particularly in the lower divisions.
The Championship produced tightly contested duels, with JKUAT Cougars beating Mwamba 33–23 and Homeboyz scraping a narrow 15–13 win over Kisii RFC at RFUEA Grounds. Mean Machine, SC Pirates, and Mombasa RFC also bagged vital victories to boost their promotion ambitions.
Across the Nationwide leagues, draws, dominant wins, and multiple walkovers defined the action. Presbyterian University, MKU Thika, Kabarak University, Maseno University, and JOOUST were among the teams that benefited from authoritative performances or automatic wins.
With only a handful of rounds left, the race for playoffs, promotion, and survival is intensifying, setting the stage for a thrilling run-in across all rugby tiers.
