The Upper Rift football stakeholders have issued a stern warning to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) against any attempts to postpone the upcoming 2024 FKF elections. The stakeholders have threatened to stage peaceful demonstrations in Nairobi if their demands are not met.

The stakeholders, led by Interim Secretary Mustafa David Simuyu, are also calling for the immediate formation of a technical committee to oversee the elections roadmap. They have also proposed the creation of an Independent Electoral Board to oversee the elections in a fair and transparent manner.

Simuyu expressed his concern over the recent sentiments from FKF President Nick Mwendwa, who has hinted at the possibility of postponing the elections. He said that any attempt to postpone the elections would be a contravention of the FKF constitution.

Simuyu also emphasized the need for a technical committee to be formed to oversee the elections roadmap. He said that the committee should have been formed by now to ensure that the elections are held on time and in a transparent manner.

Upper Rift Football Chairman James Lagat Kiplimo warned that the stakeholders will not hesitate to stage protests across the country if the FKF elections are postponed. He urged the FKF to adhere to the stipulation and guidelines of the Sports Act 2013 and ensure that the elections are held on February 24th, 2024, as scheduled.

The stakeholders’ demands are legitimate and should be taken seriously by the FKF. The elections are crucial for the future of Kenyan football, and it is important that they are held in a fair and transparent manner. The FKF should heed the stakeholders’ demands and ensure that the elections are held on schedule.
