Man, 30, Killed in Cold Blood Near Nyayo Stadium After Minor Accident Turns Tragic

A family is demanding justice after their 30-year-old kin was stabbed to death in a road rage confrontation near Nyayo National Stadium along Mombasa Road in Nairobi County.
The victim, Kennedy Ngeno, is said to have been attacked by an online taxi driver following a heated altercation after a minor traffic accident on Friday night.
According to his family, Kennedy had been travelling to Nairobi from his rural home in Roret, Kericho County, but first made a stopover at his cousin’s home in Uthiru. Later in the evening, they went out for drinks before proceeding to Pipeline Estate with friends who were travelling in a separate vehicle.
Leonard Cheruiyot, a cousin of the deceased who was at the scene, recounted the harrowing moments leading to the fatal stabbing. He said their car was hit from behind by the taxi driver near Nyayo Stadium, forcing them to park on the roadside to assess the damage.
However, instead of resolving the matter amicably, the assailant remained aggressive and charged towards them.
“He came to the front and hit the windscreen. We saw that he is violent, we tried to escape 50 metres ahead and called Ken to tell him that someone has hit us and has shattered the windscreen,” Cheruiyot said.
Cheruiyot said they called Kennedy, who was in the other vehicle behind them, to inform him about the incident. When Kennedy arrived at the scene to intervene, the argument escalated.
The taxi driver, who was captured in a video that has since gone viral arguing with the deceased, is said to have picked a knife from his car during the confrontation. Minutes later, Kennedy was lying on the ground bleeding profusely, while one other person sustained injuries in the melee.
The family rushed him to Mbagathi Hospital for emergency treatment and were later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife, Dorcas Ngeno, broke down as she recounted her last conversation with her husband, saying he was the family’s breadwinner and had left home full of life only to return in a coffin.
“He was our sole provider. He has left us with young children. All we are asking for is justice to be served. My husband did not deserve to die like this,” she said tearfully.
The family is now calling on the National Police Service to expedite investigations and ensure the suspect is arrested and charged. Police say they have launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled the scene after the incident.
The incident has once again raised concern over rising cases of road rage in Nairobi, with many Kenyans calling for drivers to exercise restraint and for authorities to take stern action against those who turn minor accidents into fatal confrontations.
