Ruto Has No Route Back to State House in 2027, Sifuna Declares as Opposition Locks Western
Sifuna accused President Ruto of destroying the country and now resorting to bribing leaders at State House in a desperate bid to salvage his dwindling support.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has declared that President William Ruto has no escape route back to power in the 2027 General Election, saying opposition forces have systematically locked down key voting blocs across the country.
Speaking on Sunday during a whirlwind tour of Kakamega County, Sifuna said his Linda Mwananchi movement has already sealed off Western Kenya and made major inroads in other regions, leaving the President with no path to re-election.
“Did you see us in Taita Taveta, Mombasa, Narok, Kajiado, Kisumu, Nakuru and next week, we are storming Homa Bay? In all those places, Ruto has no votes,” Sifuna told cheering crowds in Mumias Town.
“Ruto has no route to return to State House again,” he declared.
Sifuna accused President Ruto of destroying the country and now resorting to bribing leaders at State House in a desperate bid to salvage his dwindling support.
“We have a reason to chase away Ruto. He has destroyed our country. Now he is calling people at State House, bribing them with money,” he said.
The Nairobi Senator, who is positioning himself as a presidential contender in 2027, also hit back at critics questioning his experience and suitability to lead the nation.
He dismissed claims that youthful leaders lack the capacity to govern, arguing that experienced politicians who have held senior positions for decades are responsible for Kenya’s current problems.
“They are saying we are youthful leaders with no experience,” Sifuna said. “I just want to ask politely, what experience do you need to know that you cannot kill all sugar mills to give your friends permits to import sugar?”
He added: “Those calling themselves experts and with experience are the ones who have put us in this hole. Why can’t Kenyans give the young a chance to see if they can change the country?”
Sifuna was accompanied by a host of opposition leaders including Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, Kabuchai MP Joseph Kalasinga, former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala.
The leaders traversed five constituencies in Kakamega — Mumias West, Butere, Navakholo, Malava and Lugari — as part of a strategy to consolidate support in the vote-rich Western region.
Natembeya said the opposition has adopted a regional lockdown strategy that has left President Ruto with limited room to manoeuvre.
“We have locked Western. Gachagua has locked Central. Kalonzo has locked Eastern. Babu Owino and Orengo are locking Luo votes. Where will Ruto get the formula to win the election? Is he gone or not?” Natembeya posed.
He said the era when the Luhya vote was divided among competing political camps was over, adding that the community, which is Kenya’s second-largest, is ready to produce the country’s sixth President.
“We have supported other people for a long time. We supported Jaramogi. We supported Raila. Now, they thought Western is for Ruto. That is why they are with Wetang’ula, Oparanya and Mzee Atwoli,” he said.
On his part, Senator Osotsi urged Western residents to rally behind Linda Mwananchi, revealing that the movement has already visited 16 counties and was now touring every constituency in Western.
Meanwhile, Cleophas Malala declared his support for Sifuna’s presidential bid, claiming former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who leads the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), was also ready to back him with his seven million-strong support base.
“I vow that I will stand with Edwin Sifuna to become the President of Kenya. This Western, we want to announce that we will not allow William Ruto to get even one vote from this region,” Malala said.
The push by Linda Mwananchi to lock down Western is a major blow to President Ruto, who had hoped to inherit the late Raila Odinga’s support in the region following ODM’s deal with UDA. The sudden rise of Sifuna has complicated Ruto’s 2027 calculations.
