The Jubilee Party has stepped up its grassroots mobilisation campaign in Mombasa County as it seeks to expand its support base and increase voter registration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The renewed push occurs during the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise which aims to register 183000 new voters in Mombasa. If successful the county will see its voter count increase from approximately 642000 to 825000.
The Jubilee officials at the Kizingo Mombasa party offices explained their initiative aims to educate local residents especially youth about the significance of voter registration and electoral participation.
Mombasa County Jubilee Chairman Richard Barake announced that the party has initiated voter registration activities which will help establish its political presence throughout the area.
“We have begun registering new voters especially the youth to ensure that the Jubilee Party secures the majority of seats in Mombasa and the wider Coast region” Barake said.
He explained that the party makes use of intensified voter mobilization activities to enhance its electoral power while strengthening its overall political capacity for the upcoming elections.
“We want to transform Mombasa into a red territory during the next General Election, and our grassroots work will help us accomplish this goal” he said.
The Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i is expected to arrive in Mombasa next week to join other officials from the United Alternative Government opposition coalition in upcoming activities which will occur during this period.
The coalition recently completed a five-day grassroots tour through Makueni County to gather support for its national campaign which targets the upcoming 2027 polls.
Barake expressed optimism about the upcoming visit which he said the party is fully ready to host while he confirmed his trust in Matiang’i to lead the delegation.
“We believe that Matiang’i will be the presidential flag bearer of the United Alternative Government and we are prepared to receive the delegation in Mombasa” he stated.
The Jubilee Party’s renewed focus on grassroots engagement signals growing political activity in the Coast region as parties intensify preparations for the next general election.
