Exceptional Achievements in the 2024 KCSE Spark Celebrations Across the Nation

The 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results have brought forth a wave of celebrations and inspiring stories across the country. Out of the 962,512 candidates who sat for the exam, a total of 48,333 candidates scored a mean grade of E. Despite this, some individuals demonstrated exceptional resilience and hard work, overcoming significant odds to achieve remarkable success.

Kipkenyo Ward: A Leader’s Celebration of Determination

In Kipkenyo Ward, Kapseret Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, the spotlight was on David Letting, the Member of County Assembly (MCA), who scored a mean grade of D-. At his home, hundreds of supporters gathered to celebrate his success, a testament to his determination and persistence despite challenging circumstances.

“I never had the opportunity to attend school during my childhood,” the jubilant 64-year-old Letting shared. “However, four years ago, I managed to sit for my KCPE examination and scored 150 marks. I hoped to get a grade of E in the KCSE, considering how difficult the exam was, but I was able to outperform hundreds of students who had been in school for over 15 years but still scored an E.”

Letting expressed profound gratitude for the people of Kipkenyo who believed in him and elected him to office, even though he lacked formal academic qualifications. “I dedicate this performance to my electorate, whose trust in me has been unwavering,” he said, visibly emotional.

Kapsoya Estate: Triumph Amid Adversity

In Kapsoya Estate, South Sudanese refugees joined in celebrations as one of their own, Adhel Garang Aguer, emerged as a top performer with a mean grade of A. Adhel, a former student of Bunyore Girls High School, is now setting her sights on a future in medicine.

“I am extremely happy today to have attained an A,” said Adhel, her face radiating joy. “I aspire to pursue medicine and become a pediatrician. I have always loved being with children, and I want to dedicate my life to caring for their health.”

Adhel’s journey has not been without challenges. Her parents, who fled conflict in South Sudan, lived in Kakuma Refugee Camp for years before being allowed to relocate to Kapsoya. “This success means everything to my family and me,” she added. Her achievement stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the refugee community.

Turbo Sub-County: A Family’s Shared Success

In Turbo Sub-County, the festive mood was palpable as John Kimani Kirumba, a student at St. Joseph Kitale, received the news of his A grade. His brother also performed well, earning a B. Their parents, Peter Kinuthia and Esther Kirumba, were overjoyed as they hosted friends and well-wishers in their home to celebrate.

“We are filled with gratitude and pride,” said Peter Kinuthia. “John worked extremely hard, and we knew he would perform well. We also prayed for him and his brother, and their results have made us proud.”

John plans to pursue a degree in medicine at Kenyatta University, a dream he has nurtured for years. The family’s joy and celebrations reflect the collective efforts and sacrifices made to support the brothers’ education.

Ainabkoi Sub-County: A Top Performer Inspires Many

In Ainabkoi Sub-County, Eldo Baraka School became a hub of celebration as parents, students, and staff came together to honor Sarah Mutenyo Khatete. Sarah, the daughter of the school’s headteacher, Doris Khatete, scored an impressive A, placing her among the top performers nationally.

Sarah’s journey began at Eldo Baraka School, where she sat for her KCPE exams five years ago before proceeding to The Kenya High School for her secondary education. “We are overjoyed and so proud of Sarah’s achievement,” said Doris Khatete. “She continues to inspire all the students of Eldo Baraka School with her hard work and excellence.”
