Eldoret Police Launch Probe into Arson Attack on Mzee Stephen Sum’s Homes
Police in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, have launched investigations into a group of youths suspected of torching seven houses belonging to Mzee Stephen Sum, whom they accuse of witchcraft. The incident occurred last night, at around 9:00 PM, in Kapsabul Village, Segero/Barsombe Ward.
Soy OCPD Henry Zuma confirmed the incident and stated that security officers have already visited the scene and commenced investigations. He strongly condemned the act of arson and issued a stern warning to those responsible, stating that “the law will take its course.”
“We are treating this incident with the seriousness it deserves and will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Zuma declared. “Burning down someone’s property is a criminal act, and we will not tolerate such behavior in our community.”
It is currently unclear what sparked the accusations of witchcraft against Mzee Sum.
Some of the Villagers sympathetic to Mzee Sum are urging the police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure his safety and that of his family.
