Two people who were  reportedly shot by the anti Riot police officers  in Kisumu last week during the Saba Saba demonstrations were bailed out of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga teaching and referral hospital by a local politician.

Bob Onyango, alias Bob CEO, who has thrown his hat for the Kisumu Central Constituency seat says he was moved by the plight of the two patients.

“I had to stand with them after I received a request from one of the parents of the victims,” said Bob.

Bob noted that the bill that included surgery to remove lodged bullets was too high for some parents,

He says as a resident of Kisumu and an astute business man he had to respond to the challenges affecting the people of Kisumu.

“I was touched seeing some patients of the Saba Saba demonstrations stuck in the hospital with huge bills, I had to come to their aid as well,” he said.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday, Bob however thanked the people of Kisumu Central for coming out in droves to protest against the 2023 Finance Bill.

He said the right to protest is enshrined in the Constitution and it was not proper for the police to use force on the people exercising their Constitutional rights.

“Our people did nothing wrong to warrant the police brutality, actually, what we needed is security from the people to have a peaceful demonstration,” he said.

Bob said the people of Kisumu will continue to obey the call of Raila Odinga, who has stood for the good of the people.

“Thanks also goes to our leaders who came out and led the demonstration against the punitive Bill,” he said.

Bob further announced that as the people of Kisumu, they are ready to come out again on Wednesday as directed by Raila.

He said demonstrations world over have been used to push for reforms that are for the benefit of the people.

“Kisumu people will be out on Wednesday to show their displeasure with this rogue government which is out to finish our people by levying huge taxes on our people,” he said.

During last week’s protest,  police killed two people with Bob calling upon IPOA to always move with speed and bring to book the happy trigger police officers.

“The killings are unnecessary, the police have good means to stop a protest they deem not allowed and not opening fire on our people,” he said.
