Suspected Mpox Case Reported in Kenol: 21-Year-Old Avocado Factory Worker in Isolation

“Plans are in progress to transfer the patient to Thika Level 5 Hospital for isolation”

A suspected Mpox case was reported today at Vineyard Hospital involving a 21-year-old woman employed at an avocado export factory in Kenol.

According to Mogire, SCDS Thika, “The patient has had contact with customers and drivers from various regions, including Uganda, Tanzania, Bungoma, Sondu Miriu, and Nandi Hills, who supply fruits to the factory.”

Currently, swab samples are being collected and will be sent to the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) for analysis. “Three contacts have been identified; however, none have shown any symptoms at this time,” Mogire stated.

Plans are in progress to transfer the patient to Thika Level 5 Hospital for isolation.
