The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested three suspects over alleged corruption involving Sh92.06 million in transactions between the Turkana County Government and two private companies.
The arrests followed investigations into alleged conflict of interest, unlawful acquisition of public property, money laundering and dealing with proceeds of crime, according to the EACC.
The three suspects arrested on Wednesday are Betty Emathe Asimit, a Senior Assistant Community Health Officer in the Turkana County Government; Moses Long’ole Apua, a director of Apuco Holdings Group Limited; and Chosi Nick Nakucho, an employee of Mary’s Meals Kenya.
One of the suspects was arrested in Eldoret, with the operation conducted by officers from the EACC North Rift Regional Office.
Speaking to the media at the EACC offices in Eldoret shortly after the arrests, EACC North Rift Regional Manager Major (Rtd) Kuntai Ole Tingisha said the arrests followed the conclusion of investigations into suspected irregular transactions involving county government officials and private companies.
The three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned before the Eldoret Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
SH62 MILLION PAYMENT TO APUCO HOLDINGS
According to the EACC, investigations established that Peter Long’ole Apua, a Principal Finance Officer and Principal Accountant at the Turkana County Government, was a signatory to the bank account of Apuco Holdings Group Limited.
The Commission said its investigations established that Apua participated in the processing and validation of payments made to the company.
The payments allegedly amounted to Sh62,047,757.30 from the Turkana County Government.
In a second line of inquiry, investigators established that Lilian Akiru Louruka, an employee of the Turkana County Government, was involved in contracts awarded to Nattilila Company Limited.
The EACC says Louruka allegedly secured five contracts from the county government through the company, whose director is identified as Nicholas Lotit Korobe.
The contracts were valued at Sh30,011,133, bringing the combined value of the transactions under investigation to Sh92,058,890.30.
The Commission further alleges that money paid to the two companies was subsequently withdrawn in cash through transactions suspected to have been intended to conceal the movement of funds and the identities of the ultimate beneficiaries.
FIVE SUSPECTS STILL AT LARGE
Five other suspects named in the investigation remain at large.
The EACC has directed them to immediately present themselves at the EACC North Rift Regional Office in Eldoret, the nearest EACC office, or a nearby police station for processing.

The Commission’s directive comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approved the prosecution of the eight suspects following the conclusion of the EACC investigations.
The EACC said it will also pursue the recovery and forfeiture of public funds and assets established to have been acquired through corrupt conduct or other unlawful means.
“EACC remains committed to safeguarding public resources and ensuring that public officers entrusted with public funds are held accountable where they abuse their positions for private benefit,” the Commission said.
The case will now move to the Eldoret Anti-Corruption Court, where the three arrested suspects are expected to take the next step in the criminal proceedings on Thursday.
The allegations contained in the EACC investigations have not been tested in court, and the suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
