Seven-Year-Old and Siblings Testify Against Father in Eldoret Sexual Offences Case

A seven-year-old child and her two siblings have testified before an Eldoret court in a case in which their biological father is accused of committing sexual offences against them.
The three children—a seven-year-old girl, a nine-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy—appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Daniel Sitati, where they gave their accounts as prosecution witnesses against the accused, Daniel Odunga.
The court heard that the children allegedly endured abuse over a period of time before one of them eventually disclosed the matter to a teacher at school.
In her testimony, the seven-year-old girl identified her father in court as the person she accused of committing the offences against her and her siblings.
“I told my teacher about what was happening at home,” the child told the court.
According to the prosecution’s case, the teacher shared the information with colleagues, after which the matter was reported to the police, leading to investigations and the arrest of the accused.
Odunga was subsequently taken to Naiberi Police Station and later charged before the Eldoret Law Courts.
The accused faces three counts relating to sexual offences against the children, including charges under the Sexual Offences Act.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences are said to have occurred on diverse dates in June 2026 at Kapsit Village in Kesses Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County. The complainants have been identified in court documents using initials to protect their identities.
The prosecution alleges that one of the charges involves the seven-year-old girl, identified as VLO, while another involves her nine-year-old sister, identified as SVO. A further charge relates to the alleged sexual assault of their 11-year-old brother, identified as MTO.
Odunga denied all the charges when he appeared in court.
The court was also informed that the accused had previously served as a pastor with the Kenya Assemblies of God Church in Vihiga County before relocating to Uasin Gishu County, where he later secured employment as a cleaner at a private institution on the outskirts of Eldoret.
The accused is currently being held at Eldoret GK Remand Prison after being denied bond.
Meanwhile, two of the children have been placed at a rescue centre in Eldoret following a court order aimed at ensuring their safety and welfare during the proceedings.
Senior Resident Magistrate Daniel Sitati adjourned the case to September 24, 2026, when the hearing will continue.
The accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
