Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has expressed optimism about the Gunners’ chances of securing the Premier League title this season.

Speaking in an interview with CBS, the England international hinted that this could be the year Arsenal finally end their long wait for domestic glory, after coming close in recent campaigns.

“I don’t wanna put too much pressure on us… but I do think this is the year,” Saka said with cautious confidence. His comments reflect the growing belief within the Arsenal camp that they are well-positioned to challenge for the title, following near-misses in the past two seasons. “We’ve been close the last two years, we’re getting closer… I hope this will be the year.”

Arsenal has not lifted the Premier League trophy since the historic “Invincibles” season in 2003-2004. Under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, however, the team has undergone a transformation, emerging as genuine title contenders.

Last season, they finished second behind Manchester City, after leading the league for much of the campaign.

That experience has clearly given players like Saka the belief that they can take the final step this time around.

Saka, who has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers since breaking into the first team, has played a crucial role in their resurgence.

The 22-year-old has continued to grow in influence and is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in Europe.

His form, alongside the likes of captain Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and other key figures, has been pivotal in Arsenal’s strong start to the current season.

Despite the competition being fiercer than ever, with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham all making strong cases for the title, Saka’s words reflect the quiet confidence brewing within the Arsenal squad.

Arteta’s side has shown resilience, depth, and tactical discipline, qualities that many believe are necessary to mount a sustained challenge.

Moreover, Arsenal’s summer transfer activity has bolstered their squad with key acquisitions, including Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber (before his unfortunate injury), demonstrating the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level.

These additions have strengthened Arsenal’s depth, giving them the tools to navigate the grueling demands of both domestic and European football.

As the season progresses, Arsenal fans will be hoping Saka’s optimism is well-founded. With the squad fully committed and the club’s ambitions clear, Arsenal’s pursuit of the Premier League title will undoubtedly be one of the key storylines to follow in the 2023-2024 campaign.
