President William Ruto has reiterated the need for unity and progressive leadership to drive Kenya forward, emphasizing that the nation cannot afford to be divided along regional or tribal lines.
Speaking during a series of engagements in Kakamega County, the President underscored his administration’s commitment to transformative development and economic empowerment.
Ruto, accompanied by a high-powered delegation that included Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, several Cabinet Secretaries, and Governor Fernandes Barasa, inspected ongoing infrastructure and housing projects in the county.
During his visit to the Lurambi Affordable Housing Project, the President highlighted the importance of such initiatives in addressing the housing deficit and improving the living standards of Kenyans.
“Kenya cannot be transformed by populist politics. It requires leaders with the capacity and courage to push for progressive policies that will better the lives of the people,” Ruto stated.

“Our focus is on uniting the country and steering it towards a path of prosperity. We can only move forward when we are united,” he said, adding that Kenya has no room for leaders who seek to divide the nation along regional or tribal lines.
Ruto’s visit also included interactions with local traders and residents at Musanda, Sabatia, Ekero, and Shianda markets. He announced plans to construct 15 new markets in Kakamega County to empower local businesses and enhance economic opportunities.
“We will build 15 new markets in Kakamega County to further empower businesses in the region,” he assured.
The President’s emphasis on unity and development was well-received by the residents, who expressed optimism about the transformative projects underway.
The government’s focus on infrastructure, housing, and market development is expected to significantly contribute to the economic upliftment of Kakamega County and the broader Western Kenya region.
