Review the CBC curriculum,NA speaker urges government!
“the government should always consider pertinent issues coming from key stakeholders”
National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr) Moses Wetang’ula has said the new curriculum is burdensome going by complaints from stakeholders and advised the government to consider reviewing it.
Speaking while presiding over a Harambee for Mosop Catholic Parish church in Marakwet West constituency yesterday, Hon Wetang’ula said the review of the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) will ensure everyone embraces it for effective implementation.
Hon Wetang’ula said that since the introduction of the CBC, the new education system has faced hitches in its full implementation as complaints about it were growing day by day.
He added that all over the country people are complaining over CBC. This is something that the government should not ignore for smooth implementation of the new system
Hon Wetang’ula said education being a dynamic and continuous process, the government should always consider pertinent issues coming from key stakeholders like pupils, parents and teachers to better the new system.
He noted that he was in Lwandeti, Lugari constituency for a function and pupils through a poem they recited to him complained about CBC adding that this is something they need to address as a government.
He said complaints being raised by parents, teachers, pupils and other stakeholders should be addressed in cabinet meetings.
He added that the new system is good and those who proposed it mean well in terms of shaping the destiny of our youths and for the progress of the country.
The Speaker said the government should be sensitive to concerns being raised by Kenyans on implementation of the system.
