President William Ruto has stated that all the concerns raised during his campaign on the Competency-Based Curriculum have now been fully addressed by his administration.

The 42-member working party released a report after six months of working on it which was gazetted in September 2022.

Speaking at the State House Nairobi on Tuesday when he received a report by the education task-force, he noted that the journey to streamline the CBC involved making difficult decisions but due to the support and efforts by the state, the Kenyan children will now enjoy the fruits from the curriculum.

“I am very pleased today that finally a report that speaks on the most important component of what defines Kenya has been released and all the concerns have been addressed.” Said Ruto

He went on to say that the Education System has been a resource that the government has continually invested in stating that 29% of the government’s budget is going to Education which is 628 billion Kshs.

“We needed to sort out the TVETs, colleges, and the debts destroying the universities. Luckily we now have a credible plan on how to handle all this,” he added.

The head of state also mentioned that the government through the Teachers Service Commission has managed to hire 56,000 teachers in the last 8 months stating that it has made history in the republic.

The report proposed that the University courses be aligned with the new education system CBC, and discontinuation of the categorization of schools into the county, sub-county, extra county, and national. It also aims to limit universities from offering certificates and diploma courses.

President Ruto went on to appreciate the team that came up with the CBC report noting that its implementation began promptly since throughout history and education has been of great importance to Kenya.
