President William Ruto’s mother Sarah Cheruiyot was among 505 families
who were issued with title deeds under the National Tilting programme
in a ceremony that was presided over by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan
Bii in Eldoret yesterday.

Speaking at the county headquarters playground, the venue of the
event, Mrs Cheruiyot thanked the government for initiating the process
to the targeted residents who have been waiting for the land ownership
documents for a long period of time.

She, who looked jovial, impressed upon the beneficiaries of the
issuance of the title deeds to put into good use of the property to
improve their social and economic status.

“Let me thank the county government and the national government for
initiating the process that has enabled the residents from various
backgrounds to receive the title deeds after waiting for the land
ownership documents for long,” she said.

Residents of Maili Nne, Hill school village, and Kuinet in Uasin Gishu
County were among the landowners who received the title deeds under
the national tilting programme.

In his remarks the governor lauded the Kenya Kwanza government for
initiating a process that makes it easier and faster the processing
and issuance of land ownership documents across the country.

The County boss expressed optimism that President Ruto led
administration will restore the dignity of hundreds of families who
are still struggling to get title deeds for their land as part of his
transformative agenda in the land sector.

“I would like to call on youth to stop selling land given to them by
their parents but instead put the property into proper use to uplift
their standards of living,” said Bii.

Bii implored upon parents to start writing their Wills while still
alive and strong for their children to avoid cases related to success
on property which he observed were rampant in the region
