Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the church, citing his strong Christian values as the foundation of his leadership.
Speaking during a church service at AIC Pioneer, Sudi emphasized that those who oppose contributions to the church are enemies of development.
He reflected on his upbringing in a Christian environment, stating that his faith would continue to guide his service to the community in every capacity.
Sudi also used the opportunity to encourage congregants to register for the Universal Health Insurance Fund (SHA), a crucial initiative under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
He expressed concern over the opposition to the SHA program, particularly in Uasin Gishu, where some residents have voiced doubts about its effectiveness.
“Why are people opposing the SHA? Many residents here have been skeptical about the scheme, claiming it isn’t working,” he remarked.
Echoing Sudi’s sentiment, Principal Secretary for Health, Mary Muthoni, urged residents to embrace the SHA, explaining that it now covers smaller health facilities, unlike the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), which had more limited coverage.
She emphasized the importance of expectant mothers attending antenatal clinics for regular health checks, stating that such visits are vital for improving maternal health and preventing complications.
Muthoni further highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare access, noting that over 118 health promoters have been recruited.
These health promoters will be visiting homes to monitor blood pressure and offer support to expectant mothers, ensuring that essential health services reach even the most remote areas.
Sudi’s remarks, along with Muthoni’s advocacy for SHA registration and improved maternal health services, underscore the ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure the well-being of citizens across the region.
