Detectives in Nairobi’s Kayole area are investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman who fell from the fifth floor of a residential apartment building following an alleged argument with her boyfriend.

Police responded to the scene after a resident reported hearing a loud bang around 5:40 p.m. on July 11. The witness initially thought it was an electrical fault but discovered the woman lying on the ground in a pool of blood, according to preliminary reports.

The deceased was identified as Beraka Wambui. She sustained multiple injuries consistent with a fall and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Wambui had reportedly argued with her 22-year-old boyfriend shortly before the incident. Crime Scene Investigation officers processed the apartment, recovering household items with blood stains as exhibits for forensic analysis.

The boyfriend was arrested and remained in police custody Monday as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of Wambui’s death. Her body was taken for a post-mortem examination.

Such falls from high-rise buildings have increased recently in Nairobi. Police are also investigating two similar incidents from last week in the Kasarani and Kilimani areas. The victims in those cases were hospitalized, authorities said.

Separate Killing in Homa Bay

In a separate case, police in Homa Bay County are investigating the murder of a 50-year-old man whose body was found abandoned in a thicket near Ombek Trading Centre in Rachuonyo South Sub-County.

The body of Samuel Ochieng Adiengo, of Ombek Village in Kadel Kamidigo Sub-location, Kodera South Location, was discovered Saturday afternoon, police said.

The body was located in a thicket about 30 meters from a local resident’s house and showed visible bruises on the back. Preliminary investigations suggest Adiengo was killed inside a suspect’s house before his body was dragged into the thicket in an apparent attempt to conceal the crime.

The motive has not been established. Crime scene investigators processed the scene, and the body was moved to Rachuonyo Level 5 Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The prime suspect is at large. Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers have launched a manhunt.
