Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has emphasized that Kenya is not the only nation committed to resolving the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

He noted that Kenya, alongside other global players like the United Kingdom and France, is actively working towards a lasting solution to the crisis.

“Last year, there were talks in Paris concerning Sudan. You cannot say France is ignoring Sudan. Another meeting is being organized in the UK, and again, you cannot claim that Sudan is being sidelined through the talks in London,” Mudavadi said.

Speaking during the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkiye, Mudavadi highlighted that Kenya’s approach to peace in Africa is grounded in dialogue and a mutual understanding of the continent’s complex challenges.

“Kenya is a peace initiator. We do not disrupt peace, nor do we advocate for the division of other nations,” he asserted.

In his capacity as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Mudavadi reiterated Kenya’s commitment to a united Sudan. He called for inclusive dialogue aimed at bringing all parties to the negotiation table to find a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

Addressing concerns over Kenya’s decision to host Mohamed Dagalo, the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), in Nairobi, Mudavadi clarified that Kenya has never facilitated the formation of a parallel government or a government-in-exile for Sudan.

“We have hosted both sides of the conflict in Nairobi. A section of Sudanese civil society, civilians, and political parties aligned with the RSF held discussions and drafted a charter. Nowhere in that charter is there any mention of a plan to form a parallel government,” he explained.

He added that Kenya’s role is to support the Sudanese people in establishing their government through their own institutional and democratic processes.
