Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi expressed his support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s bid to become the next African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson.

Mudavadi joined Odinga in Addis Ababa, where the former Prime Minister unveiled his pan-African vision and strategic priorities for the AUC, positioning himself as a candidate dedicated to African transformation and unity.

“I’m honored to join Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga in Addis as he unveils his pan-African vision and strategic priorities for the African Union Commission,” said Mudavadi, emphasizing Odinga’s commitment to driving the continent forward through a unified approach.

This endorsement underscores the Kenyan government’s backing of Odinga’s campaign for the prestigious role, as Mudavadi affirmed Kenya’s aspirations to see a fellow countryman at the helm of the AU’s executive body.

The Kenyan government, in collaboration with Odinga’s Secretariat, hosted a diplomatic reception at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa.

The event was designed to provide an opportunity for Odinga to engage with all heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the AU, as well as key officials from various African nations.

This reception aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties, build support for Odinga’s candidacy, and showcase his vision for a prosperous and united Africa.

Addressing the gathering, Mudavadi conveyed his best wishes to Odinga, expressing confidence in his leadership and capability to guide the continent.

“My warmest wishes to Hon. Odinga for the great opportunity ahead of him to lead Africa’s transformation and shared prosperity,” Mudavadi remarked, noting that Odinga’s experience as a long-time public servant and pan-African advocate uniquely qualifies him for the position.

Odinga’s platform for the AUC leadership focuses on fostering deeper integration within the continent, advocating for economic growth, strengthening African governance structures, and addressing regional challenges collectively.

His proposed vision aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, a blueprint for sustainable development and unity across Africa.

Odinga’s bid to chair the AUC has sparked discussions on the potential for transformative leadership in Africa, with Mudavadi’s endorsement adding weight to his campaign.

If successful, Odinga would be well-positioned to implement policies that address pressing issues such as climate change, security threats, economic disparities, and cross-border cooperation.

As Odinga continues to garner support from African leaders and diplomats, the backing of prominent Kenyan figures like Mudavadi adds momentum to his campaign.

This gathering in Addis Ababa marks a critical step in his journey to secure the AUC chairmanship and lead the continent toward a future of shared growth and prosperity.
