Kisumu Woman Representative Hon Ruth Odinga has managed to mobilize funds for the release of 7 youth who were arrested,  arraigned in court and sent to Kodiaga remand .

Ruth Odinga took the initiative to rally Kisumu political leadership to stand with the young people who took part in a peaceful demonstrations called by Azimio Coalition over the high cost of living.

Her move show all those who were charged at the Kisumu Law Court bonded from the remand centre.

Confirming the positive gesture, Kisumu businessman and  politician Edward Onyango commonly known as Bob CEO said Hon Ruth acted as a mother and could not let the youth suffer in custody.

“She is our mother, she reached out to all politicians and we contributed towards the course,” said Bob.

Bob speaking after securing the release of the 7 said in the past political leaders have shunned helping young people arrested during such demonstrations.

He noted that the Kisumu county women Representative  exhibited leadership when she gathered all the political class who in turn collected funds for the release of those who were arrested.

Bob noted that much should be done to the victims of police brutality, majority under medication at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga teaching and referral hospital.

“We still need funds and I can assure you leaders are still sending in their donations towards the welfare of our people targeted by the police,” said Bob.

He announced that nobody in the struggle and brutalized by the police will be left behind noting that they will reach out to even those whose loved ones were felled by the police bullets.

Bob spoke as Azimio shelved the planned Wednesday planned demonstration and instead called for a vigil to stand with victims of police brutality.

“We obliged with the communication from Baba Raila Odinga that on Wednesday nobody will venture into the streets but instead stand with our people who were wrongly targeted by rogue police officers,” he said.

Ends.
