Kenya Police FC are the new kings of Kenyan football after clinching the 2024-2025 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title, their first-ever top-flight crown since earning promotion in 2021.

The law enforcers secured the title with one match to spare following a narrow but decisive 1-0 win over Shabana FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday.

Brian Okoth was the hero of the day, rising highest in the 75th minute to head home the winning goal and seal the historic triumph.

The victory lifted Police to 64 points, four ahead of second-placed Gor Mahia, who edged Ulinzi Stars 3-2 in a separate fixture.

Despite the win, Gor Mahia’s efforts came too late, as the four-point gap is now unbridgeable with only one game remaining. As a result, Kenya Police will now represent the country in the 2025-2026 CAF Champions League.

They are also set to receive a guard of honour from record champions Gor Mahia when the two sides meet in the season finale next weekend.

Had Police lost to Shabana, the title race would have gone down to the wire on the final day, but their resilience under pressure paid off handsomely.

Gor Mahia will now turn their attention to the FKF Cup final, where they will face Nairobi United next month. Victory in that match will earn them a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Relegation Battle Heats UpAt the other end of the table, the scramble to avoid relegation intensified. Nairobi City Stars gave themselves a lifeline after beating KCB 2-1.

Goals from Benjamin Mosha and Joseph Mwangi propelled City Stars out of the bottom spot and into the relegation playoff position. Vincent Ondabu scored the lone goal for KCB.

Bidco United dropped to the bottom of the standings after a 1-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz, who moved up to third place with 57 points. Murang’a Seal remain second from bottom on 34 points following a goalless draw with Mara Sugar.

Meanwhile, Sofapaka climbed to seventh on the table with 46 points after a 2-1 win over Posta Rangers, further complicating the mid-table dynamics.

With one round of fixtures left, the title is settled, but the relegation picture remains far from clear — promising an intense final weekend of FKF Premier League action.
