Tearful Testimony
A 23-year-old Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer fought back tears in an Eldoret court as he testified against his father, who is accused of murdering his mother.
The victim, Rael Cherop Biwott, 44, was a Senior Accountant Assistant at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
Abuse and a Toxic Home
Sammy Ndirangu, the young officer, recalled his father’s violent past. His father, Francis Mwangi Ndirangu, a businessman, frequently assaulted his mother, accusing her of infidelity.

“My father used to beat my mother in front of me,” he told the court. “He insulted her and accused her of being unfaithful. This created a bad relationship between us.”
Ndirangu described their home in Shauri Estate, Eldoret, as toxic and unbearable due to his father’s abusive behavior.
The Tragic Disappearance
Biwott was reported missing on June 23, 2024. Days later, her dismembered body parts were found scattered across Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties.
Court documents revealed that Biwott was last seen leaving work on June 22 at 7 p.m. with her estranged husband. Although Ndirangu claimed they took a matatu home, CCTV footage showed they left in a hired Toyota Succeed. Tragically, Biwott never made it home.
Gruesome Discovery
On June 24 at noon, locals found some of her body parts in a gunny bag by the roadside in Kapsilegaa village, Nandi County. Later that day, more remains, including her head and upper limbs, were discovered in Lamaiywet village, Uasin Gishu County.
Despite these horrifying finds, Ndirangu only reported his wife missing at 6:40 p.m. at Eldoret Central Police Station.
Autopsy Findings
An autopsy conducted at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital revealed that Biwott suffered severe neck injuries and blunt force trauma to the head.
Legal Proceedings
The accused remains in custody at Eldoret GK Remand Prison, as the court denied him bail due to security concerns.
The prosecution has lined up 21 witnesses, including his children. So far, four witnesses—two of his sons and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jeptoo Biwott—have testified.
The case continues today.
