Police officers based at Kaloleni Police Station have arrested a 22-year-old man, Emmanuel Mwanyae, following a tip-off from members of the public.

The suspect was apprehended at Nyalani village while in possession of four sacks of bhang, a popular street name for cannabis sativa.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mwanyae was taken into custody and is currently undergoing processing as investigations continue.

The seized bhang has been secured and will be used as evidence in the upcoming court proceedings.

This arrest is part of an intensified nationwide crackdown on illegal drugs, particularly cannabis, which remains prohibited in Kenya under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act of 1994.

Offenders found trafficking or possessing such substances face stiff penalties, including long prison terms and heavy fines.

Authorities have credited members of the public for their cooperation in reporting suspicious activity and have urged continued vigilance.

The DCI has encouraged anonymous tips via the hotline 0800 722 203 under the hashtag #FichuaKwaDCI, assuring informants of their safety and confidentiality.

The government continues to wage war against drug abuse and trafficking, which it views as a major threat to youth and national security.
