Minority Whip Junet Mohamed voiced his frustrations with the numerous bureaucratic hurdles faced by the government in executing its mandates.

Speaking during a public forum, Junet highlighted the delays caused by excessive consultations and permissions, which he believes are stalling development and progress.

“The government is given roadblocks when it wants to do its work,” said Junet. “If it must do public participation, get permission from parliament, courts, civil society, and churches, when will the work ever get done?” His comments have sparked both praise and criticism across various political and civic spaces.

Junet likened the situation to developing one’s home, stating that decision-making should not be overly complicated.

“When you want to develop your home, you only maybe ask your wife for permission, not your children, your father, or your grandfather. This must stop,” he asserted, urging for a more streamlined approach to governance.

Junet’s remarks come at a time when government projects often face delays due to extensive legal and public consultations required to meet constitutional and regulatory frameworks.

While these processes are meant to ensure accountability and inclusivity, critics argue that they sometimes lead to unnecessary red tape and inefficiency.
